Is it just me or do most of the GPS-related mishaps happen in the United Kingdom? You know, mishaps like plowing into bridges on account of voice-guided turn-by-turn directions.
The UK’s AA–no not Alcoholics Anonymous–recently conducted a poll of 7, 380 members. Of those surveyed 40 percent have a GPS device. Only 44 percent of those owners say they’ve never been misdirected by the device while 55 percent say they find their PND’s distracting. Once the results were all tallied up, the AA says that roughly one-third of PND-using Brits have gotten lost by following GPS directions.
The AA’s solution: carry a map and don’t follow a road if it looks unsuitable–even if your PND tells you to. OK.
