A Forrester Research survey released today confirms that a majority of North Americans will be cutting back their technology spending this year. The survey polled over 5, 000 North American consumers in November 2008 but didn’t reveal anything unexpected. Technology deemed as a necessity such as internet service likely won’t be hit by excessive spending cuts in 2009, while ‘luxury’ purchases such as smartphones and PND’s will take a greater hit.
As you can see from the above chart, over 60 percent of consumers are less likely to buy portable GPS devices this year. Mobile phones and HDTV’s, on the other hand, won’t see too much change.
Will you be cutting back your tech spending in 2009?
