Windows 7 to get netbook edition, GPS hardware support

windows7 Windows 7 to get netbook edition, GPS hardware support

Microsoft will be releasing a netbook edition of Windows 7, reports CNET UK.  The confirmation came during a briefing at Microsoft’s London offices, according to CNET, but it’s no surprise.  Recently it has been reported that Microsoft is heavily involved with ASUS in Windows 7.  Whether that means as a development partner I’m not sure, but time and again during CES ASUS has hinted that its newly released netbooks will support the operating system when its 1.0 release finally comes.

It was also confirmed that Windows 7 would include a Core Location API as previously reported.  This means that it will integrate natively with any sensory hardware on your computing machine including GPS.  Without access to third-party information or applications, the OS will be able to determine your location.  It’ll be up to developers to create applications that use the location feature.
