The TomTom GO 740 LIVE GPS navigator is now available in the United States. TomTom’s first connected portable navigation device available in North America, the GO 740 LIVE GPS comes pre-loaded with IQ Routes. IQ Routes features a historical traffic speed database that incorporates average speeds at any location during anytime of day into its route choices. Combined with real-time wireless traffic feeds, updated every 2 to 5 minutes, and the GO 740 LIVE likely offers the most accurate routing of any TomTom GPS device available in the US.
LIVE services, ready to go out of the box due to a built-in modem, feature Local Search powered by Google, real-time fuel prices, current local and 5-day weather forecasts, and QuickGPSFix which locates GPS satellite automatically.
Other features include voice-guide, turn-by-turn navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth and Advanced Lane Guidance which shows you which lane to drive in when approaching complex junctions. The GO 740 LIVE sports dimensions of 3.4 x 5.0 x 0.9 inches, weighs 7.9 ounces, and has a 4.3-inch TFT LCD touchscreen. Tele Atlas maps of the United States and Canada are pre-loaded into the GPS device’s 2 GB of internal flash memory which is expandable via a microSD slot. In addition to the built-in SIM card, the modem features a plug-and-play GPRS connection.
Available in mid-April, the TomTom GO 740 LIVE will cost $399.99 including a 3 month free subscription to LIVE services. After the three months, LIVE services will cost $9.95 per month.
