Garmin’s Foretrex 401, Foretrex 301 GPS watches coming soon

Garmin announced yesterday the latest in its Foretrex line of GPS watches-the Foretrex 301 and Foretrex 401.  Built for the great outdoors, the Foretrex GPS watch pair both feature a WAAS-enabled GPS receiver with HotFix technology, storage space for up to 500 waypoints, 20 routes or a tracklog of up to 10, 000 waypoints and 10 saved tracks, a trip computer, sunrise/sunset and fishing/hunting information, and a USB interface for PC connectivity.  Both Foretrex watches also have a TracBack feature that reverse-routes you back to your starting destination after a day of hiking, for example.

The Foretrex 401 adds in a barometric altimeter and electronic compass, as well as wireless syncing with other Fortrex, Oregon and Colorado GPS units and Garmin heart monitors and cadence sensors for sharing routes, waypoints and tracks.

Powered by two AAA batteries, the Foretrex 301 will last for 18 hours and the Foretrex 401 will last for 17 hours.  Both models will ship in the 3rd quarter of 2009 priced at US$199.99 for the 301 and US$249.99 for the 401.
